Make better videos with your smartphone

Our new learning center provides tips and best practices for record video and audio with your smartphone

When you're capturing video with your smartphone, do you open your camera, hit record and hope for the best?

One thing that's certain is that you have a high powered, high quality video camera in your hands that suitable for any use - social or corporate - so, why not get the most out of them?

At a recent video storytelling masterclass we held in Edmonton, we saw that there is a huge appetite for creating better videos, especially for smaller organizations where there are one or two people responsible for marketing and social media and few resources to invest in video equipment. And with consumer video editing apps getting more intuitive and less technical, it's brought the prospect of producing professional-looking videos closer than ever.

So, instead of simply providing the participants with our slide deck post-presentation, we decided to convert our class into a Learning Center where they could refer to some of the knowledge on the go and share our tips with others!

In the Learning Center, we cover what you need to know to get the best out of your smartphone videos, including an orientation of which settings to use and steps to approach recording b-roll and interviews. We even include our favourite smartphone accessories and links for you to comparison shop.

Over the coming weeks we will be adding new content, including best practices for sharing videos on social media and the basics of video editing, where we will cover some of the popular consumer video editing apps and how to use them. You can subscribe if you want to be notified when new content is added.

We love to share our knowledge and our passion for video production, so if you have a question or would like to know more about anything related to video, send us a request through the Request Content tab! If you provide your email address, we will send you a note when the content has been added.

It's easier than ever to make better videos with your smartphone, so happy creating!
